Supervisory Course Requirements

Senior Project (461/462):

To register for Senior Project (461/462) or Special Problems (200/400), students must:

  • Download a CPE Supervisory Course form here or obtain one from the CPE office.
  • Fill in the requested information, sign it, and then have it signed by your senior project advisor (professor / lecturer).
  • Return the form to the CPE office where you will be assigned to a section based on who your advisor is and given the appropriate class number for registering via CPReg.  Once classes have begun, a permission number will also be needed and can be obtained from the CPE Office or the senior project advisor.

Students may take CPE 400 if they will not be able to finish senior project in two quarters.

Some students may use their coop/intern experience for a senior project. This must be approved by the senior project advisor and the company for whom the student is working. A proprietary release authorization memorandum from the company must be on file, as proprietary information will be published via your senior project.

All Computer Engineering students taking Senior Project are required to formally submit a final report, accompanied by an Analysis of Senior Project Design report (utilizing the form and outline provided below).  Two copies of the Senior Project Requirement Form are also to be submitted along with a receipt for the $6.00 library processing fee from the State Cashier's window in the Administration Building.

In summary, submit to the CPE Office:

  • Analysis of Senior Project Design (submit one copy signed by student and initialed by senior project advisor)
  • Senior Project Requirement Form (submit two copies, each signed by student and senior project advisor)
  • $6.00 receipt from the State Cashier's window in the Administration Building
  • Unbound copy of Senior Project Report
  • Plain, unmarked large mailing envelope sufficient to contain the above forms and reports.

Please submit all final paperwork to the CPE Office, not the library. The CPE Office will officially record that your completed project has been received and will forward your project report to the Kennedy Library, as required.

Examples of CPE Senior Project Reports are available for viewing at the Kennedy Library.
